Glen Holmes
is a native of Virginia's New River Valley where he was first introduced to piano at an early age. His love for music has earned him local and regional acclaim, having paved the way for any number of opportunities to perform/work as a solo artist, group musician, band leader, gospel choir director, and song writer/composer.
Glen enjoys all music genres; however, his style is most heavily influenced by the jazz idiom and many of its legacy giants such as Thelonius Monk, Art Tatum, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Wes Montgomery, Keith Jarrett as well as more recent contemporaries like Joe McBride and Jason Moran.
Holmes holds a doctorate degree in IT from Virgina Tech (thus the performance stage name, "Doc") and currently serves as a professor there.
